Cannabis for Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and Myoneural Disorders

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder where antibodies destroy the ability of nerves and muscles to communicate properly. This results in a weakness of skeletal methods, and particularly affects muscles that control the eyes, mouth, throat and limbs. This can create severe weakness in the limbs, trouble walking, double vision and difficulties with speech and chewing.

In one mouse study, cannabinoids helped regulate multiple levels of neuronal communication, as well as build new neurons. This suggests that cannabinoids can be used to help regulate the production of antibodies, reduce inflammation and damage to the bones and muscles, and return the body to balance. Cannabinoids are particularly useful for many kinds of autoimmune disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease and type-1 diabetes.
